Physical Description

Irish crochet square, cotton, Margaret Anne Field, Australia, [1900-1920]. Square of white cotton Irish crochet, probably made as a cushion sham to be sewn onto a coloured fabric cushion. Central raised crochet rose motif surrounded by two wreaths of shamrocks. Trailing border motif of roses and leaves with raised crochet thistle flowers worked at each corner and open diamond mesh ground.

Also known as Mrs Edwin Field or Margaret Anne. Possible date of manufacture - some editions of her book are dated 1909 but she would have worked on these designs before publication.
