Solid circular seat. 'Made in Australia' impressed in upper back, designer and manufacturers information impressed to underside of seat.

Designed by Brian Sayer and Christopher Connell as 'G'Day Chair Co' in Queen St, Woollahra, 1988 and cast at Central Foundry, 1988. The designers of the G'Day chair were both migrants to Australia and the chair is a cheerful celebration of the Australian slang and culture they have adapted as their own. The chair is made from recycled cans, including beer cans and was launched in 1988, Australia's bicentennial year. The G'day chair is cast in three sections. The back consists of the letters G and D above with an apostrophe and the letter A below, the front leg is the Y. It is light in structure and folds neatly into a cardboard carton.
