Double Bass, 4-string, wood / metal, maker unknown, Germany, 1890-1910. (Part 1) Double Bass from Germany, with back and sides of unfigured maple, belly of pine, neck and pegbox in one piece of beech (has been repaired), varnished in light brown, flat back with painted purfling, and 4 painted iron and brass machine-heads, bridge of maple is a late 19th Century model. Body is varnished in light brown, varnish is coming off exposing raw wood. (Part 2) Cover, soft, brown cotton.
