HISTORY

Presented to the New South Wales Collection of Applied Art by Mr A.W. Robey, 11 May 1927. Mr A.W. Robey was a plumber and long-time member of the National Association of Master Plumbers. Advertising as a 'Plumber, etc.' he worked from his shop at 103 Bathurst St, Sydney. Keen oceanographer, Robey penned 'The Secret of the Tides' in 1930, detailed Australian tidal movements. While little else is known about him, he is recorded in the Sydney Morning Herald, 10th May 1927 as donating 'several pieces of ancient Egyptian bronze and pottery' to the 'Applied Art Exhibit'. How he came by these pieces remains unknown.
