PRODUCTION
Notes
Rum sold by Tooth's & Co, however not produced by them. They sold spirits and soft drinks to "tied" publicans, as well as beer. The rum was presumably sold by Tooth's in casks, which the publican then bottled. Thus the rum was bottled by C.J. Waugh, Coogee Bay Hotel, Coogee. The bottle was presumably manufactured by the Australian Glass Manufacturers Company for J Mc Carthy & Cos. The style of the "AGM" trademark is dated to c 1923-1930, however the label looks to be from a later date. The horse pictorial trademark on the label is one from the Tooth & Co. Kent Brewery dated c 1835-1930. There appears to be no record of J Mc Carthy & Cos in the Sands directory for the 1930s-1940s.
