Wagga Wagga High School badge
Object No. 86/1736-10
This Wagga Wagga High School badge is part of a collection of 119 high school badges from public and private schools all over New South Wales dating from 1967 to 1973. They were donated to the Museum in 1986 by I.F. Vacchini. Badges, with their accompanying mottos, were often designed by the schools themselves, some in competitions, some by teachers or senior students often co-ordinated by the P&C associations and Mothers' Clubs. Wagga Wagga is located 455 km south-west of Sydney in the Riverina district of New South Wales. The High School was established in 1912 and a new two-storey brick building was designed by Wells and constructed in 1917 by C. Hardy & Co. The new building was roofed with asbestos cement slates and accommodated 200 students. It comprised 5 classrooms, a science room and storeroom, library, toilets, student lockers, a principal's office and two staff rooms. Subsequent additions were made to the school in 1931, 1956, 1961 and 1972.
