'Cheese & Ways to Serve It' recipe booklet
Object No. 86/1120
Companies like Kraft produced booklets or cookbooks as a way of advertising their product, sometimes they were given away or available for purchase at the point of sale of the product. They contained recipes with particular ingredients, in this cheese. Cookery books represent and help us to understand the evolving cooking and eating habits of Australians. These books have moved from being individually produced and hand written in the1800 and early 1900s to commercially produced books for companies or publications that contained recipes for particular audiences or events like 'The Depression Cookbook' and 'The Disabled Men's Cookbook'. The history of cooking and recipe books are a way of tracking the evolution of Australian products, taste, values and attitudes to food and nutrition. Anni Turnbull, Curator, 2023
