Physical Description

Philatelic cover and insert, cover postmarked 15 April 1985, paper, maker unknown, Australia, 1985 White envelope with black and white printed image in the upper left corner of another envelope with two Australian stamps and an air mail label. This envelope in the image is postmarked Sydney, date illegible. The envelope is to be sent to the Darwin postmaster via Cootamundra. The white envelope has four Australian stamps attached, three depicting wattle blossoms and one depicting the Australian aviator Bert Hinkler and his aircraft. There are two postmarks from the GPO Sydney, dated 15 April 1985. A postmark on the back of the envelope is from the GPO in Darwin, dated 18 April 1985. Rectangular piece of orange card with text printed in black. The text is titled 'The First Passenger Service' and provides a description of the first passenger and mail service completed on 16 April 1935. The information was written by E A Crome for 'Qantas Aeriana'.
