Model of PWD steam locomotive No.1
Object No. 2016/9/148
The Neil R Cram collection of model trains is a unique and extraordinary assemblage in HO scale representing all the locomotives and rolling stock of the New South Wales Government Railways in miniature. Commencing in 1963, the collection was devised and meticulously put together by its former owner as a source of enjoyment and reference to be shared and made accessible to the general public. It was with this in mind that Mr Cram, a former solicitor and keen railway historian, generously donated his collection to the Powerhouse Museum. Several aspects of the models add to the significance of the collection. Many have been scratch-built by some of the most skilled railway modellers in Australia and almost all the locomotives are in working order. Locomotives and rolling stock are represented not only in their prototypical form but also in the various modifed versions in which they operated. Andrew Grant Senior Curator, Transport April 2012
