Physical Description

Set of 48 glass plate slides from the Sydney Observatory used for teaching astronomy. Images on these slides have been copied from textbooks or original photographs. This box features images of the moon and lunar subjects.The box is a slotted case for lantern slides with room for fifty slides. The lid of the case contains an index of fifty slides which does not correspond to the set within the case. All slides are standard 3 1/4 inch photographic slides bound with paper. Slides are indexed within box according to catalogue numbers G1 to G50. Slides G37 and G43 are missing. Slides G42 to G50 come from a set prepared by the Royal Astronomical Society. Most slides also have previous catalogue numbers within the collection.
