HISTORY
Notes
Julia Johnston, (1796-1879), the owner of these boots was the daughter of Lt Colonel George Johnston and lived at the family property 'Annandale' (before the subdivision). She moved to the property 'Horsley Park', Prospect in 1833 where her sister Blanche had married George Edward Nicholas Weston. The effects of Julia Johnston were left to Frederick Weston (c.1845-1925) and Augusta Alice Smart (nee Weston), children of Blanche and George Weston. These effects were in 1926 passed through Augusta Smart to her neice Ester Emily Weston who married Archie I Oakes. They passed then to Miriam W Oakes, her youngest daughter, then Mrs Neaves and were bought at auction by the museum in 1985.
