Physical Description
Metallic lace galloon, narrow, maker unknown, France / Spain, c 1760 Continuous lace with a double headside. Two-way lengthwise design of bell-shaped flower, stem and leaf; the flower touches alternate edges and alternates with a group of three fans. The size of the pattern repeat is 17 cm.

Notes
The maker of the lace is unknown. It was made in France or Spain, c. 1760. This galloon is narrow, but the workmanship and use of stitches is similar to the other piece of metallic lace galloon. The shell fans between the edge ornaments are a typical edge finish for metallic braids of this and earlier times (16th and 17th centuries) because they allowed the single flat thread to form the centre of the fan with as few twist and turns as possible.
