FlipBike folding balance bicycle with manual and packaging
Object No. 2013/46/1
The FlipBike was a winner in the 2011 Australian International Design Awards. In terms of innovation, it has modified balance bikes for children in two key areas: in terms of materials, they utilise steel for durability and longevity, and also its compactness. Without chains or pedals, this children's bike folds with one click for easy transport and storage. The bike is designed in a visually fun way for kids and in a practical way for parents. The designers were intent on having the FlipBike be as visually aesthetic in its collapsed form as it in when ready to ride. It is a big moment for many families is when a child learns to ride his or her bike. From tricycles to training wheels, most kids have small bicycle before graduating to another type of off-road or speed bike in their teens. The FlipBike teaches children too young for pedals and chains about balance, coordination and speed control and has exceeded safety standards for materials, construction and packaging. It is more convenient for parents to carry and store than its wooden counterparts, as it folds in on itself with a single click.
