Physical Description

Catalogue page, page II of 'Supplements to Catalogue of 1899', Wunderlich Limited, Redfern, New South Wales, Australia, July 1900 Page II of 'Supplements to Catalogue' to the 'Illustrated Catalogue (edition 1899) of Wunderlich's Patent Embossed Metal Ceilings, (Zinc or Steel), and every kind of Embossed Metal Ornaments for Architectural Purposes'. The page is headed 'Interior Views of the Factory. Modelling Department' and contains a halftone photograph with the following caption: 'The Modelling Department is a very important one in our organisation, because the crispness or flabbiness of Ornament, the artistic or commonplace character of the finished work depends to a great extent on good or indifferent modelling. For this reason we employ the best sculptors obtainable, and are in this enabled to do justice to architects' requirements. All our work is first modelled in clay and cast in plaster of Paris prior to its being reproduced in metal. The plaster casts are then sent to the die foundry and after use are stored for future employment. Our stock of dies now amounts to several thousand.'
