PRODUCTION

Notes

In an interview, Hazel Benini recalled that Bruno Benini used to shoot flower studies as a change to the many male nude portfolio portraits he was shooting for Giant and other male model agencies during the late 1980s and 90s. Hazel and Bruno Benini would occassionally work on these shots together with Hazel spraying water on the flowers to create the illusion of dewdrops. In at least on of the shots Hazel's hand can be seen holding a plastic spray bottle.

HISTORY

Notes

Part of the Bruno Benini photography archive. Benini used several of his flower shots as photographic blow ups in the entrance foyers of his studios. There are visual references to these displays in the archive. Hazel Benini has a blow-up of the wisteria shot in her home. A wall of these shots featured in the 'Creating the look: Benini and fashion photography' exhibition, Powerhouse Museum, August 2010 - April 2011.
