Object No. P3548-808

This photograph shows the Woodford (Blue Mountains) observing station established by Henry Russell to observe the 1874 Transit of Venus. Other observers at this site included PF Adams the Surveyor-General, Mr. LA Vessey of the New South Wales Trigonomical Survey, Mr. Du Faur of the Survey Department and A Fairfax, on whose property the station was located. The photographer was probably Joseph Bischoff. See P3548-796 for additional information. Andrew Jacob, Curator, June 2022
