Harmour & Heath motion picture projector

Harmour & Heath motion picture projector

Object No. 2007/191/4

The Harmour and Heath projector and amplifier were manufactured in Australia around 1950. The design and construction of the amplifier demonstrates the level of engineering expertise reached by post war Australian manufacturers. The Museum has a small but interesting collection of high quality 16mm sound and silent film projectors that all date from around the middle of the last century. This period represents a high point in the use of this media in educational institutions and domestic settings. As a group the projectors also demonstrate the sharing of expertise and the spread of technology and manufacturing techniques from the USA to the UK and Australia (from Bell & Howell to Gaumont British to Cinevox and Harmour & Heath).
