Photographs, 'The International Swimmer' Photographs, Speedo, Artarmon, New South Wales, Australia, 1958-c.1990 Photographic material collected and often used by the editor of the Speedo magazine, 'The International Swimmer', in the production of the magazine. Many of the images were purchased from Australian newspapers or international photographic agencies. Other images were supplied by the competitors themselves, family members or their coaches. The overall collection focuses primarily on pool swimming, diving and water polo. The photographs include some famous Australian swimming figures including Michael Wenden, Tracey Wickham, Des Renford, Don Talbot and Lisa Curry to name just a few. The images were originally housed in manilla folders that were arranged alphabetically by name or subject. They have been transferred to archival housing but the original broad alphabetical order has been maintained as far as possible. All items contained in the original manilla folders have been retained but non photographic items such as the clippings, photocopies and photostats have not been described.
