Fuel ration tickets, issued to and collected by Arthur H. Gillott, Sydney, New South Wales, c.1940s These are fifteen NSW Motor Spirit ration tickets Written on the back of the tickets are either 'A Gillott' or 'A. H. Gillott', the ration number, and registration number of the vehicles which they were issued for. Petrol rationing was enforced in Australia during 1940 to 1949. Ration tickets were issued monthly for citizens to claim whatever amount of fuel they were entitled to. A. H. Gillott purchased the taxi and hire car service (Pymble St Ives Hire Cars Pty Ltd) in 1943, so the rationing had a great affect on the whole company.
