Physical Description
Circular brass gong with cotton rope handle threaded through two holes at the top. Chinese characters are painted in red on one side. Underneath is stamped in black Chinese characters and text in English. The wooden beater is painted white, red and green.

Notes
The gong and beater were made in China. The Chinese characters record names of manufacturers.
HISTORY
Notes
The traditions associated with the lion dance were maintained in Sydney by the Yiu Ming Society through the twentieth century. The gong and beater were stored in the Society's rooms in Retreat Street, as it has been replaced with a new gong.
