Photographic print, black & white, steam and compressed air motor for flapper constructed by Lawrence Hargrave in 1878, taken at Deutsches Museum, Munich, Germany, prior to 1944-45, copy print made in 1960 Hargrave donated models to the Deutsches Museum in 1909, following his unsuccessful attempts to find an institution in Australia, England, USA and France who might take them. Most of the models were destroyed in the Allied bombing of Munich during World War II. Those that survived were transferred to the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences [later Powerhouse Museum] in 1960 and 1966.
