Seven cameras and accessories

Jock Leate (Born 1918, Died May 1999) built up, owned and managed a chain of "photography, recording, HiFi and optical equipment" stores in Sydney from the late 1960s through to 1988 when he retired. Throughout this period Jock collected cameras and accessories. The collection spans the period from 1870s to 1980s. There was no specific theme or method to his collecting, however this haphazard and opportunistic method of collecting over such a long period and his access to traded cameras produced some gems. It is these finer examples and rare cameras that make up this acquisition.

Cameras (7) and accessories (2), KW Etui 6x9 plate, QRS Kamara, Nikkorex F, Mamiya RB67, Adox Blitz Box, Asahiflex SLR & Ducca 35mm cameras + Bertram Chronos & Weston exposure meters, metal/ fabric/ glass/ leather/ plastic, Nikon/ Mamiya/ Hermann Wolf/ Asahi/ Durst SA/ Weston, Japan/ Germany/ Italy/ United States of America, 1928 - 1970 KW Etui 6x9 Plate (complete and working). Manufactured by Kamera werkes, Dresden, the Etui 6x9 plate camera was one of the most compact of its time. Was available in various colours including black, Grey, red, brown and blue. This one black. QRS Kamra (c1928) Brown in original box. Manufactured by QRS-DeVry Corporation, Chicago, USA. The QRS was constructed of Brown Hard Plastic formed from a mixture of Phenolic resin and cotton waste. It produced 40 exposures on 35mm film 24x32 mm, in its own special cassettes. Nikkorex F with Nikkor f2/50 (2 accessory shoes) and coupled exposure meter for top (c1962-65). Interesting because of its detachable coupled (selenium cell) meter with its ability to couple to the shutter dial of the camera. The beginning of automatic metering. + Lens Hood. Mamiya RB67 with Sekor f3.5/127 and Sekor-C f3.8/90 (c1970s). The camera that replaced the 5x4 Speed Graphic and 6x6 Rolleiflex in Press and Professional 6x7 Ideal format, which was more compatible with the Print media. Adox Blitz (Bakelite) Box (c1950s). An uncommon, interesting shaped Bakelite camera, manufactured by Hermann Wolf GmbH of Wuppertal, Germany. An almost identical model was also produced under the Gevaert brand and as the Wolf Luxa 66. Asahiflex with Takumar f3.5/50 (76619). Introduced in 1951 by Asahi Kogaku, Japan (established 1919) as their first SLR camera (predecessor of the Pentax SLR line). Ducca 35mm (c1946-50). Manufactured by Durst SA, Italy. Interesting because of its unusual upright design and use of 35mm film in Agfa Rapid cassettes. It was available in different colours: black, white, red, brown or blue, with matching case. Bertram Chronos exposure meter (c1950) made in Germany. Weston exposure meter, made in USA.
