From the opening of his repair shop for telegraph equipment in 1876, Lars Magnus Ericsson envisioned the great potential of phones, and also saw the need to improve the technical quality.  
 
Ericsson contributed to making Stockholm the world's most telephone dense city by the late 1800s. Ever since, it has been Ericsson's firm conviction that communication is a basic human need.
