Brooch, set with photograph and hair plait, with pendant attachment, gold / crystal / paper / hair, [England], c.1870 Large two-sided oval brooch set in gold, front has photograph, a hand coloured bust portrait of a man set behind crystal, the back has a decorative plait of human hair set behind crystal. Set around the bezel is an ornately scrolled frame, with decorative engraving in four corners, featuring small flowers and cross-hatching, Large brooch bar pin attached to reverse with a hook clasp, also a pendant attachment. The photograph is a bust portrait of Captain R.J. Miller (the donor's grandfather), with a beard, in a suit (hand coloured green).
