Physical Description

Clog overshoes, pair, womens, silk velvet / leather, maker unknown, England, 1760-1770 Womens pair of straight overshoes of channel stitch construction with oval toe and single lift heel. Heel socket is made for a woman's shoe with broad heel. Uppers are brown velvet with green binding and leather and silk lining. Soles are leather and the heel is covered in brown silk and velvet. Uppers consist of a pair of square ended latchets with a single pair of holes with green velvet sides. Possibly no 139 in the 1889 Exhibition Catalogue
