Physical Description

Borders, two, Carrickmacross applique, linen and cotton, Ireland, [late 1800s] Two lace lengths, Carrickmacross appliqué border, made of linen and cotton with a floral repeat design. Border has a scalloped headside border with a continuous floral garland, each scallop containing a floral spray which extends up into the plain machine net ground. Decorative fillings and bars are worked within the floral motifs and bordonnet outline thread. The repeat design is 100mm in width and is repeated three times along lace length. Lace is made of linen and cotton. and uses appliqué lace technique.
