Summary
Physical Description
Exhibit A. This piece of wood was cut from a gum tree on the Talbragar River in the Bligh District at the beginning of the present year. The mark thus [triangle] was made by Mr Lewis a surveyor in 1832 about 45 years ago. In the course of years the new wood grew over the old mark and when cut away brought off an impression as shewn on the exhibit in raised relief, leaving the original mark on the tree in as good a state of preservtaion as it was the day it was marked.; Locality: Bligh District (SB). "No. 1905 D. / IMPRESSION OF A SURVEYOR'S / MARK. / Cut from a Gum Tree on the Talbragar River, in the Bligh district, N.S.W., at the beginning of 1877. The mark thus [triangle] (a triangle) was made by Mr. Lewis, a surveyor, in 1832. In the course of years the new wood grew over the old mark, and when cut away brought off an impression as shown on the exhibit in raised relief, leaving the original mark upon the tree in as good a state of preservation as it was the day it was marked."
