Physical Description
The beaching gear for the Catalina "Frigate Bird II" can be broken up into three sections, the two main beaching gears and the tail beaching gear. The main beaching gear, which are positioned on the left and right hand sides of the aircraft, directly under the wings, consist of two large rubber tyres attached to a long metal cylindrical rod, via a 'T' bar. The main features of the rod include the swivel arm, the locking pins for each section, the towing hole and the brake handle situated at the bottom of the rod, closest to the tyres. The tail beaching gear consists of two, smaller, rubber tyres, fitted onto a central shock strut. Coming off the central strut are three cylindrical metal struts, used for connecting the gear to the hull of the aircraft, one on each side of the tail and a third underneath.

Notes
The landing gear is made by Boeing of Canada in Vancouver Canada, in 1944, while the tyres are made by Goodyear Tyre and Ruber Co and Dunlop Olympic Limited.
