Summary
Physical Description
This lamp has a round reservoir on which a raised discus sits and then sinks to the central area near the small filler hole. On the top end near the nozzle there is a small "ribbon" decoration. The spout extends into a flared bow shape concluding in two small lugs. The lamp has two small lug handles, one of which is shaped as a dolphin. It has a flat disc base with a small blob of clay adhering to it which is slightly off centre and probably accidental. The base is also inscribed with a potters mark with a Greek 'A' (alpha) in the centre. The lamp is a light terracotta colour. Fabric: medium fine levigation with red/brown, grey, calcareous and quartz inclusions. The top is slipped.
