Physical Description

Folding fan, ivory / mother-of-pearl, handpainted [fabric], maker unknown, France [1750 - 1770] Ivory fan finely carved blades of extremely fine technique. Painting depicts a group of seven people in a garden, two cupids are present, also a goat and a lamp. Outer blades show ornament and a musician, backed by fine slivier of mother-of-pearl. At back painting of young girl holding an arrow and near a broken bridge. (SB). France [c. 1750-70]. (LC).
