Porcelain plate بشقاب ملکه فرح دیبا
Object No. A4951
This plate was handcrafted in 20th-century Iran during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (1919-1980), the king of Persia (1941-1979), by the Rosenthal Porcelain Co. in Germany. During the reign of the second Pahlavi monarch (1941 - 1979), the royal family had a strong interest in acquiring similar porcelain objects and services made by the same company. As a result, a range of porcelain tea services and meal accessories found their way into the life of the Pahlavi court. Consequently similar high-quality crafts were adopted for the Persian market. The surface of this round porcelain plate is decorated in blue, gold and white with acid-etched gilt on scroll rims. The Queen’s crown and her title, Pahlavi Queen, are also acid-etched and coloured in gold to the left of the plate.
