Summary

Physical Description

Cast chariot finial, standard finial of "master of animals" type. Front and back are almost identical, and the profile shows little depth. The central anthropomorphic tube is hollow for the insertion of a pin to support the object. At the top, is a figure consisting of a head with a narrow trunk and spindly arms. This figure is grasping two flanking figures with leonine jaws and cockscombs, the necks of these two creatures, provided with another bird like head, rejoin the shaft lower down where there is another anthropomorphic head, below this are animal haunches.
