Physical Description
Vase, porcelain, with a short foot, swollen cylindrical body and short neck with everted rim, poultry decoration painted onglaze in polychrome enamels on a sparse white reserve, one side featuring a crowing rooster with two hens, the reverse with a hen with two chicks, floral design on neck and foot in gilded enamels, gilt rim. Made by Hyochien and painted by Soga Tokumaru, Tokyo, Japan, 1878
