HISTORY

Notes

Worn by the donor Priscilla Shorne. She made the traditional 1960s trip to London as many young Australian did, lured by 'Swinging London'. She taught and travelled for three years before returning to Australia. In London, she lived around the corner from the Biba Emporium and loved the atmosphere and clothes, buying a Biba pantsuit (99/74/2) in 1973 just before she returned to Australia. Shorne also travelled to Istanbul on what she descrived as a fairly disorganised bus trip and where she purchased the suede coat in the Grand Bazaar in 1971. It was not a commercial trip but one put together by a group of people who wanted to travel to London and Istanbul and back.. 'I bought the coat because I thought it was quite splendid and I wanted something to cope with the English winter' Priscilla Shorne 1999.
