Photograph album belonging to Florence Broadhurst

This album documents Florence Broadhurst's travels and early career as a singer and dancer in Asia (India, Malaysia, China, and possibly Japan) during the 1920s. The photographs present Broadhurst as an adventurous and stylishly dressed young woman. Florence Broadhurst moved to Europe in 1927 after a brief return visit to Australia. On her return to Australia in 1949, she become a painter and renowned Australian wallpaper designer and business woman. Broadhurst died tragically in her wallpaper studio in Paddington on 15 October 1977. Anne-Marie Van de Ven, Curator 2009
