Object No. 97/322/1-9

This wallpaper sample was designed by Florence Broadhurst, the renowned Australian designer, in 1973. A beautiful object, it was made by her for one of her clients in the Middle East. Born in Mount Perry, Queensland, in 1959, F. Broadhurst established her business under the name of the Australian Hand Printed Wallpapers Pty Ltd. in the late 1960s in Sydney, which was later recognized as Florence Broadhurst Wallpapers Pty Ltd. She developed an innovative technical process for the production of her wallpapers including printing on metallic washable surfaces, vinyl-coating finishing and the dry rack system. By the 1970s, she had created around 800 designs in eighty different colours and became a globally well-known artist. Among many others, her brightly and freshly coloured Persian and oriental inspired designs became popular in the Middle Eastern markets.
