Physical Description

Tea and coffee set, "Tea and coffee piazza", comprising a teapot, coffeepot, sugar bowl, creamer and a presentation case, sterling silver / gilt / brass / enamel / glass, designed by Aldo Rossi, made by Alessi SPA, Milan, Italy, 1997. A silver tea and coffee set comprising a teapot, coffeepot, sugar bowl and a creamer, all presented in an architectural, rectangular case with clear glass walls and blue enamelled pedimental top, set with a round clock, at the front, roof of copper treated with a surface patination. Both tea and coffee pots of tapering cylindrical forms (coffeepot taller) extending at the rim into wide, blue-enamelled bands below a narrow silver 'galleria'; both with triangular spouts, angular ribbon handles and conical lids topped with glass-ball finials. The tall, cylindrical sugar bowl with a dome-shaped lid with the same finial, and a long, flat handle teaspoon. The short cylindrical creamer with spout and handle of the same form.
