Binoculars, Starmorbi, metal/glass, Carl Zeiss, Jena, Germany, 1923-1924 Binoculars, 60 mm objective lenses, three interchangeable eyepieces in a turret arrangement with magnifications 12, 24 and 42. Individual focussing, lens shades for objectives, Porro-Abbe prisms, gunsight on right hand side. Inscribed Starmorbi No 1546, with Carl Zeiss/Jena logo. Used with tripod (97/129/2) and case (97/129/3).

Notes
This is an early and very high quality pair of binoculars made by Zeiss Jena, the developers of binoculars. The first reference Dr Fred Watson (binocular expert) has to the Starmorbi model is 1923. Mrs King believes that her father purchased the binoculars prior to 1924.
HISTORY
Notes
Mr Frank Whiddon, father of the donor. Purchased by Mr Frank Whiddon. It was inherited from him by his daughter (the donor), Mrs King in 1948.
