Designed by Marion Mahony and/or Walter Burley Griffin as part of a range of furniture for student use at Newman College. Probably made by James Moore and Sons, City Road, Melbourne, who were responsible for other furniture at Newman College, some of it signed. Date is based on drawings for this design dated 9 January 1917 in the collection of the Art Institute, Chicago.
HISTORY
Notes
Used as a study table in the study-bedroom accommodation for students at Newman college. One of several desks 'rescued' and restored by David Sampietro, Melbourne, in the [1970s]. This example was sold by Geoffrey Hatty, Melbourne to the current owners.
