Summary

Physical Description

'Riviera' model semi-acoustic, 6 string, electric archtop guitar has double cut-away body, with a wine red finish and white plastic pick guard, rosewood fingerboard, inlaid with shell/mother-of-pearl. Features two humbucking pickups, tune-o-matic bridge, two tone and two volume knobs, one for each pickup. The brand name "Epiphone" is inlaid on the headstock, a stylised letter "E" logo is printed on the headstock and on the the pick guard. A sticker inside the body gives manufacturing information: "Epiphone Style Riviera WR....A Division of Gibson Inc, Kalamazoo, Michigan". Serial number engraved into the back of the headstock: "3114152".

Notes

Gibson took over the epiphone brandname in 1957, and began building Epiphones in their Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. After 1970 the production of Epiphones was moved to East Asia, [Japan and later Korea]. This guitar would have been made in East Asia during the 1980s.

HISTORY

Notes

The guitar was used by Chris Bailey, lead singer and songwriter for the Australian band The Saints. Chris Bailey bought the guitar in a shop in London, whilst on tour with The Saints.
