Tie, counted thread work, cotton/silk, Miss Florence Andrew, Australia, 1911-1912. White cotton necktie lined with white silk. Hand worked with a geometric pattern in counted threadwork, worked in blue and yellow cotton thread. One end is mitred and the other end is square.

Notes

The tie was made by Florence Andrew of Hurstville for her fiance, Ted Crambrook, who lived in South Australia. Some of the work was done on the train as she travelled to work as an apprentice dressmaker in the city before they were married in October 1912. The tie was made by Florence Andrew for her fiance just before they were married in October 1912.
