Physical Description

Microphone and packaging, Ellipsoid, metal/rubber/cardboard/paper, Steanes Sound Systems Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Australia, 1940-1970. Microphone and packaging. The microphone has an egg shaped chrome plated metal head with a fine grill over the front half. The swivel head is attached to a black hollow cylindrical handle with a hole in the bottom end. Black rubber covered electrical cord from back end of head with a maroon Bakelite one pronged plug. The packaging consists of a cylinder of plain cardboard that fits over the head of the microphone, and a yellow cardboard box with a flip top. Printed on the top of the box in black 'Steane's Sound/Systems Pty Ltd/'ELLIPSOID'/Uni-directional speech type/VELOCITY MICROPHONE.

HISTORY

Notes

The projector and accessories were given to Mr and Mrs Stafford in about 1946 by Thomas Nichol soon after their marriage on the condition that it be used for church film nights as well as personal family use, which was until about 1970. Over this time Mr Stafford added to the collection of accessories. Thomas Nichol gave the projector to Mr I Stafford in about 1946.
