HISTORY

Notes

This poster draws attention to the famed London to Sydney air race sponsored by confectionary magnate, Macpherson Robertson. Competitors were drawn from around the world. The winners were CWA Scott and Tom Campbell Black in the specially-built DeHavilland DH88 Comet racing plane named 'Grosvenor House'. Second was a Douglas DC-2 of KLM carrying passengers. The publicity for Douglas was immense and helped promote the aircraft and its successor, the DC-3.
