Poker machine, 'Apex', metal, Apex Amusements, Sydney, Australia, 1956-1960 Poker machine, coin operated, tall case with vertical sides and back, front slopes back at mid height, cast iron shell painted light blue and gold with woodgrain laminate on the sides and top of wooden base. Chrome handle at the r.h.s. surmounted by a white marbled plastic grip, from top front down, '6d' symbol next to coin insert slot with swivelling 'engaged ' cove. Three glass fronted windows displaying card symbols which spin on drums once the handle is pulled, to the right is a panel illustrating the winning card combinations. There is a chrome tray at the bottom of the object for dispensing winnings.
