Posters (series of 4), 'Our love...', paper, Norman Edwards for AIDS Council of NSW Inc, Australia, 1991. Series of 4 posters, each composed of a black and white photograph of a different pair of gay men and carrying a community message about HIV/AIDS, viz: 1) "our love means safe sex. Habit or hotpants, lycra or leather...[etc.]" (barechested man, transvestite and motorbike) 2) "our love takes care. Some of us have HIV, some of us don't..." (Asian man and biker) 3) "our love 2x2x2. Some of us inject. Some of us don't..." (young man and older man) 4) "our love gives us strength. Our community is diverse. Some of us are into fucks..." ('nun' and leather boy)

HISTORY

This set of posters was sold for a nominal sum to the Powerhouse Museum by ACON. The poster series was designed to target homosexual men and intended for display in places they attend, e.g. gay venues such as bars and saunas, HIV/AIDS agencies such as ACON, and STD clinics. While delivering a strong message about safe practices with regard to HIV/AIDS, the tone of the posters is positive and in keeping with ACON's education philosophy, which is pro-gay, pro-sex, non-judgemental about drug injection, and supportive of the gay community.
