'Forest Bench' by Peter Michael Adams

Peter Adams ran his own furniture studio in the USA before coming to Tasmania in about 1984. He uses salvaged timbers to give them an 'honourable end'. Many of his forms are benches, derived from a long interest in public seating and in particular, Korean benches. His benches also refer to meditation mats, prayer mats, beds of nails and the undulating shape of forests.

Physical Description
Bench consisting of four parallel lengths of dark wood, myrtle with legs shaped into U-shaped forms at sides. Benchtop has 3 x 15 loose inserts of huon pine cubes of varying heights, forming an elongated 'S' shaped form. The tops of the cubes are cut so that the grain is visible and placed to form a circular pattern.
