'New Age Business Suit' mens outfit by Peter Tully
Object No. 90/814
Peter Tully is one of Australia's most significant artist/designers working in the field of art clothing. He uses the materials of contemporary life to explore the primitive and tribal behaviour and patterns of post-industrial society in his work which he describes as "urban tribalwear". This outfit is an extraordinary play on the concept of the conformity of the business suit for men. It was especially designed and made for the exhibition 'Australian Fashion: The Contemporary Art' shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London 7 June-13 August 1989, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney 3 October 1989-24 February 1990, Marimura Art Gallery, Tokyo 28 June-13 July 1990.
